Advertising Push

FAQ

Questions we get asked.

Direct answers, including where the answer is "it depends" or "no".

The channel

What is push notification advertising?

Messages delivered to a browser or device where the recipient has previously agreed to receive them. The permission is the defining feature: unlike display advertising, you are contacting someone who opted in.

How is it different from email?

Shorter, more immediate, and far less tolerant of poor targeting or high frequency. There is very little room to explain yourself in a notification, which puts more weight on the match between message and destination.

Is push right for our brand?

Sometimes not. It suits time-sensitive or genuinely useful messages to an audience with a reason to hear from you. It suits complex or considered propositions poorly. We will tell you if your brief points elsewhere.

Permission and compliance

Do you buy lists?

No. We work with audiences that have opted in, and we design the opt-in journey where one is needed.

What consent record do you keep?

What was shown, the version of that wording, where and when it was shown, and the channels selected. The point is to be able to reproduce exactly what a person agreed to.

How are opt-outs handled?

Applied across every campaign, not just the one that generated them, and treated as standing until there is a fresh, evidenced agreement. If a suppressed contact reappears in a new sign-up, that is flagged for a human decision.

Do you provide legal or regulatory advice?

No. We operate to a defined standard and keep the evidence trail, but the compliance position for your business is yours to take with proper advice.

Working together

What do you need from us to start?

The audience, the action you want, and how you will judge whether it worked. If the last one is unclear, that is the first thing to fix.

Can you guarantee results?

No, and we would be cautious of anyone who does. We agree the measure up front and report against it honestly, including when it is not met.

How quickly can a campaign launch?

It depends on whether the permission journey exists already. Working with an established audience is quick. Building the opt-in path properly is the part that takes time, and it is not the part to rush.

What reporting do we get?

Delivery, engagement and downstream outcome against the agreed measure, plus what underperformed and what changed as a result.

Who owns the data?

Set out in the engagement agreement before work starts. We are explicit about roles and responsibilities rather than leaving it implied.
